Georgia Tech ISyE Professor Nicoleta Serban — Examines Medicaid Capacity Children on Medicaid may lack sufficient access to dental care, and two nationwide studies led by Georgia Tech ISyE Professor Nicoleta Serban — the first to examine Medicaid capacity at the provider level — now show a more complete picture of the U.S.' publicly-funded dental care program. IPaT, ISyE, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta have previously provided funding for this research. In September 2018, a $1.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health was awarded to Professor Serban to support her research on access to preventive dental care for children. | | | |

Georgia Tech and Emory Partner on Mild Cognitive Impairment Program Georgia Institute of Technology is joining Emory University’s Brain Health Center in launching an innovative research and therapy program for people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), which is often a precursor to Alzheimer’s disease. The James M. Cox Foundation and Cox Enterprises, Inc. are supporting the new MCI Empowerment Program with a $23.7 million gift. | | | |

ML4H: Machine Learning for HealthThe NIPS 2018 Conference recently hosted a Machine Learning for Health Workshop and CHHS research director, Turgay Ayer was accepted to present a paper regarding “An Analytics Approach to Hypertension Management”. The paper studied optimal joint systolic/diastolic blood pressure treatment thresholds using a machine learning approach. | | | |
